A potted view of the Hughenden Manor apiary project

This project is detailed more fully on another blog It is a project that allows others to understand a little more about bees and beekeeping with options for those who cannot become beekeepers themselves or those who are tempted but need a better idea of what is involved before they take the plunge.

We go to some local events as well as some at the Manor and try to make sure we have items on show to give some ‘hands on experience’ – of the equipment if not live bees.  I created a short video that summarises our project that we could show as a backdrop if we had power or a laptop with enough oomph in its battery and I have uploaded that to youtube.  It has no sound and I am not sure whether it would interest people sufficiently to watch it all at one go, but it tries to include information about the way we prepared, obtaining our second hive as a swarm from Princes Risborough, some of our inspections and our exceptionally beautiful surroundings.

About apiarylandlord

Definitely past it - whatever it was - I may have blinked and missed it. New to beekeeping and totally entranced by the experience. That is probably all you need to know until I work out how secure this blog is. Great fan of recycling - see ilovefreegle.org to find your local group. Save things from landfill. Pass on your surplus, locally, for free or ask for things you need in case you can have someone's cast off again for free.
