Increasing the army to save the bees

We love those companies who join us in spreading knowledge about our bees and help us spread the word about ways in which individuals can promote bee health and preservation.  In the UK the Co-operative has their Plan Bee website and lots of ways forward.  This morning I received my 3 packs of  free seeds which will add to bee friendly plants in the garden.  It also mentioned an iphone app – I don’t have an iphone but do have an elderly iphone touch so I followed the link.  The first surprise was that only one person has given this app less than 5 out of 5 stars – can’t remember seeing that on any other applet.  The second was that when I ran it, it really is a little gem.

The scenario is a bee comes from the future to collect bees to save the bees.  There are gold bees and swarms to boost the number you save.  After each load of bees you escort to the hive you get a tip for a way in which you can help the bees in real life rather than just this virtual world.  There are three worlds you progress through.

The reason I am so pleased is that the Plan Bee manages to target adults in practical ways (free seeds and more) and through this little game gives something to amuse and inform the smaller members of our community.

About apiarylandlord

Definitely past it - whatever it was - I may have blinked and missed it. New to beekeeping and totally entranced by the experience. That is probably all you need to know until I work out how secure this blog is. Great fan of recycling - see to find your local group. Save things from landfill. Pass on your surplus, locally, for free or ask for things you need in case you can have someone's cast off again for free.
