A cake and a prize, both skep shaped.

I couldn’t resist buying a silicone cake mould in the shape of a skep.

The resulting cake looked OK.

And it wasn’t long before I heard I had won a prize – complete with my name engraved on it!   I am very proud, of course.  However, I was also surprised because the award was for a short article I had written for the HWBKA magazine about the new venue for the Spring Convention.  I had also brought back a large order of new equipment for them for their new apiary.

About apiarylandlord

Definitely past it - whatever it was - I may have blinked and missed it. New to beekeeping and totally entranced by the experience. That is probably all you need to know until I work out how secure this blog is. Great fan of recycling - see ilovefreegle.org to find your local group. Save things from landfill. Pass on your surplus, locally, for free or ask for things you need in case you can have someone's cast off again for free.

Very nice skeps, both the cake and the real one!

  2. Agreed. I relive all the joy of a little girl with a dolls house when I see the small scale but beautifully formed skep.

Wonderful cake, and wonderful prize – well done!
